Watch out IE!

Ok, so! There has been some changes finally since I updated last--I've went from my traditional three-panel layout to a larger, more floating layout for the comics, and it feels good, so far. It does take me longer--quite a bit, even--to make than the old ones, but they feel better. And it's easier to fit text. And they're prettier. And all in all I like them a lot more. Hopefully this will not force me to go down to a two-a-week schedule this fall when it gets darker, and hopefully by the end of next spring (last semester before I'm out of compulsory school) I'll be so into habit of making comics that I'll manage to make them on schedule even then. But we'll see.

In other news I've begun redesigning the site--the old design just weren't nice enough. It was cozy, but, it was dark and crowded. ^_^;; So now I've changed the background, and more is to come, I promise. Until Lena come home from her trip though it will continue to look even more awful for you Internet Explorer users--but I advise you to get Firefox instead, a much better browser (don't tell Lena I said so, though... =P ).

Also! Although there is no one to make a special comic for my birthday, it is indeed my birthday today. I go 15! (now only three years younger than Lena) Yay!

Fridays are back!

Yeah, as you know, when summer began I sloped Friday's comics in favor of my social life, since Lena was coming and right after that I was going to Madeira. Now this is behind me and although I right now feel sorta out of it and lazy and very unproductive, I've decided to throw Fridays back in there. Me and Lena have finally started working on an actual plot and I won't have to go entirely on feel anymore, and I wanna come to the fun parts already! I know, from nothing really happening during the half year the comic's been up, that it will actually take us a while to get there... but the faster I make comics, the faster it'll be, right? So. Anyway. This means we're back on our three-a-week status, and I will hopefully soon snap out of it and get the new background and archive banner done so that the site will look better! Right now it's a bit messy...

The Site

During this week there will be some changes to the site, mainly linking pages that we completed earlier, and some slight rearranging, probably. During this time, please don't worry about broken links, broken images, or broken pages. Also, I know the current banner is a little bit too large, when Anna is back I'll force her to make a new, smaller one.

And don't forget to vote by Saturday.

Journeys

So, first of all, I went to Sweden to meet Anna, as she said, and actually stayed at her house for a few days with my sister, then went off to music camp for a week, then returned without my sister and stayed at her house for another week and a half. It was quite fun. I have discovered Anna's true evil nature as well. Anyway, she was hanging out with me rather than actually, you know, making comics most of the time, so she didn't get the ones done for ahead of time.

The reason she needed it for ahead of time is because she's in Spain this week, Tuesday July 5th to Tuesday July 12th. She did get the comic done for Wednesday the 6th (although it isn't her best work, she'll be sure to agree...), but not for Sunday, and she might not be able to get the one done for Wednesday either. We'll have to figure out what to do about that. Probably we'll either have some extra strips later, or some nice big ones, or perhaps... I might be able to find some interesting things to put up from my collection of photos as updates this week. And besides that, I'll be updating the site as well.

Update

I have created a poll that you can vote in. Anonymous users can only post comments, not vote, but feel free to do that if you don't want to register. Vote here.

What the~? No more comics?!

Well, um, no more comics on friday, anyway... it seems I am a very lazy person, so I never managed to build up a stock before summer. See, and so summer came and Lena came (the first time I get to meet the co-worker of this comic! Woo!) and obviously I'm sorta preoccupied... and directly after she's left I'm off to do stuff with my family... so maintaining the three-a-week status of this comic would be impossible and I would miss random days or sit up way late and do really bad comics and I would feel really bad about it... so I'm gonna take away Fridays' comics instead. Only over summer, mind you. After that I will be up and running my mad three-a-week schedule again.

Lena's comics, on the other hand, are permanently gone. She felt they didn't actually add anything, they broke the flow of the comic, and, most importantly... she was lazy and didn't want to do them anymore. ^_^;;

Another Button? and Downtime

First, yes, keenspace has been going down off and on. We're not really sure why, but it obviously isn't our fault *hides hammer behind her back*. Anyway, if it goes down again, you can always try poking around at the Keenspace Forums, or you can just wait a day or so until the site comes back up.

Now then, we did get another button that you can feel free to click on, and vote for us. And we'd still appreciate it if you'd join Belfry and subscribe to us there, as well. It will only take a moment of your time and make us very happy. *wanders off, having made her monthly news post*

Vote for us~!

So! 'Twas a while since I updated, wasn't it? *shifty eyes* Usually I'm good at updating. And it's not that I've really been all that busy...anyway. I have some new things for you~

We now have, between the comic and these news, a row of buttons. They're leading to various webcomiclists, and, you should vote for us if you like us~! ^_^;; The three to the right are for voting, the three to the left are for making an account and then adding us to your favorites. Pwease? (although, it should be noted, at the moment the voting-ones are just ontop of the others, because Lena isn't finished coding them).

So, anyway, now that you've voted... *shifty eyes* You can see the little tagboard I've got us. Isn't it nice? ^_^;; Since I figured I sometimes post at those thingies, easily reached from the front page, but I don't think I ever posted at anybody's forum... and since the forum isn't generating any response... >.< And I want feedback! I know some people've added us to their favorites, and it truly thrills me, but, I'm greedy for more. ^_^;; I want live feedback. So please use the tag-board to just say hi, or what a nice comic you have, or your comic sucks, or comments on old/new comics and whatnot. And then I'll be happy happy. Yeah.

"Nothing to say," huh?

Bleah. *sticks out tongue*

Eh heh. *cough* yeah. ^_^; Was a while since we update. Lena's birthday has come and gone (happy birthday Lena! 18 and all grown up, huh? *snickers*), and I have, successfully, started to make new comics in the more convenient size. So not on schedule though. These random scouthikes I go on kinda interrupt that, so that I can't make any that weekend. That's kinda bad, because that means I'd have to make at least four all other weekends... ^_^;; Never mind though.

Anyway, so, when Lena said "handdrawn comics every day", I went kinda like: ".......huuuuuuh?!", because in my ears, that sounded like, you know, every day of the week, there'd be handdrawn comics. While she meant, every day there was comics, they'd be handdrawn. Just so you know, and don't get confused like me. Yeah.

...

Hey there, everyone. I don't have anything much to actually say, but a certain someone was bothering me about the lack of updates, so... here one is. We've been working on the comics for May already, and there are some new things coming up that we think you'll really like. Hand-drawn comics every day, for example? Well, except Monday since I can't draw. Anyway, comics will also be less wide to try and make things look nicer for those with smaller screens. And they're really pretty! ^_^; I wish I could draw...

Ooooh... pretty... ^_^

Yeppers! Site is almost looking decent now... background, banner, linkbar attached to the banner, and, for all you Internet Explorer users...
I realized a couple of days ago, talking to Joel, that in Internet Explorer, the site displays really, really bad. All the transparent images had little boxes around them, including the borders, which made the site look awful. Also, the news/comment boxes were pushed far to the right, and their background was an ugly grey. The grey isn't going away, I'm afraid... but the images were soon fixed. A bit harder, though, was to make the boxes centered... because what made them centered in IE made them screwed up in Firefox, so what we needed, was a tag, that only IE would read, right? So, see, yesterday, Lena was searching literally for hours for a script that would make only IE read the center-tag that we obviously need. She failed miserably. So today I decided, I'd do it instead, and I think I've got it all fixed now... ^_^;; I'm just happy there's something I do better than Lena...

Also, for you who can't really figure it out, yes, friday's comic was a fake. I really did put as much time and emotion in it as I said I did, but, it is, in fact, just a scam. ^_^;; I'm not dead. I probably won't be, either - unless in some distant future when I actually die, the comic still exists, then either we will go on living in the comic, just somebody else is maintaining it, or other characters will have found their way into it and taken over it. We'll see. Probably it's not even an issue. ^_^;;

Hush hush

And we be updating again~! It was actually only 11 days since I updated, but still... *shifty eyes* Anyway, today's comic is the last one before we need to start update things again, even if I have a bunch that's already made, only not uploaded with their right names and such. I'm working on a few special comics, and the reason... will be told on Sunday or Monday or something. Lots of hush, huh? ^_^;;

Anyway, in the time that has passed, I've spent a while at my Grandma and Grandpa's place. Doing nothing much, really... sleeping, mostly. Listening to music. Some might think this kind of rest might be inspiring, but it really isn't. It just pulls you down and makes you slow. Not that I didn't enjoy having absolutely NOTHING on my mind for almost three days, but still...
So that'll be the reason if anything is late, which I for my own sake hope it isn't... *gulp*

Anyhow, looking at Lena's comment for today's comic - she explains a bit about FallingLeaf and the messageboard of hers from which we have come - I figure soon we're gonna have to start working on that Historypage. And I'll have to start working on our links. They're not pretty. And too many. And we really need somewhere to put random stuff like dropdowns and random buttons and badges... *wanders off planning*

And I still haven't fixed either background or banner? I am such a... (insert random bad word here).

DIE CSS DIE!

No, I don't really feel that way. I do wish I were just a little bit better at it, though... some of what I've been doing lately feels really inelegant. Anyway, at least things are pretty much stable now, until I mess around with them again. If you ever see the site and everything is messed up, come back in a couple hours and I'll have hopefully straightened things out again. Maybe.

Borders! Prettiness~~

As you undoubtedly have noticed, there are now random colorblots running down the sides of the screen, and me and Lena like to think about them as borders. There's one to represent each of us - Zelph, Izzy, FallingLeaf, and Eolill. <--spoiler. Except, of course, there's now two for Leaf and none for me, since, Lena's bad at thinking one up for me.
Anyhoo, for those of you interested, the daisy chain is for Leaf, as his magic is earthmagic, and his speciality is daisies, especially in unnatural colors, such as blue. Although these aren't blue... and the jewels, they're for Izzy, since she's vain and likes jewels and shiny pretty stuff - quote Lena, so don't kill me Grace~! And anyway, the mystic purple signs, they're zelven (Zelon elven) which is a language not only with mystic signs but mystic words that doesn't at all work like proper english, or proper swedish for that matter. Anyway, there's nothing for me yet. I don't even do anything in the comics, I'm just the one who makes sure we survive, which isn't a particularily cool position. ^_^;; We're still working on a background, though, and I might end up using some boring one I come across somewhere just to get going on the banner thingie, which would be much cooler if I could use the alpha-shade thingie or whatever to give the transparency a gradient, that I know Lena was talking about once, except that IE6 doesn't support it... so we'll see about that. Maybe I'll stick with a non-transparent banner, like the rest of these webcomic authors...

Oh, oh, and anyway - Lena was upset that I chose to do Wed/Fri/Sun rather than Mon/Wed/Fri, like all the others do. It's only moving Monday's comic back a day though, isn't it? Anyway, this means she'll be doing some kind of thingie on Mondays to amuse herself. ^_^;; She's going to teach you zelven, so, I guess maybe by the time my audience sends me mail in zelven, I might know the way to say hi... although there's several ways to do that, I have no idea how Lena's little brain could come up with such a complex idea. Beats me totally. (read=Lena's the smart one, I'm just the artistic one. She's doing the coding, remember?)

Anyhow.

It's Getting Better!

I have successfully gotten rid of the tables, and gotten things to center. At that point, I didn't feel like thinking about how to get the links in a bar to the side, since I'm really tired, so I wasted time making buttons. But, you know, they're kinda pretty? Maybe? ^_^ Anna can make some better ones, how about. All of my code is valid xhtml I believe, although if you do try to validate some of the stuff I can't change (like ads, for example) will cause problems. Ah well, what can you do? Still, overall, I think it's not looking too shoddy.

As for the dropdown being in an annoying place, I had tried to put everything in a line, but I don't really know how to arrange things. I'll just have to wait for Anna to give me some instructions, huh? And then hope I can follow them...

Oh, and Happy St. Patty's day, if you celebrate it!

Layout!?

Ooooh, Lena made the newsboxes work. ^_^;; They're really, really cool. I can see in the coding that she has also tried to fix our links, but, only the bad ones show up. I don't know this xhtml-thingie-coding, though, so I guess I'll have to leave that to her... the layout of the site is really bad, though. Everything is in bad places. Me no likey. The dropdown is in an annoying pace, the links are just random stretches of text, and the newsboxes, although cool, are pushed to left in an awkward way. I also have to check how this looks in 800x600 pixels... and anyway, the huge mass of blue, although a pretty blue, is kinda boring, so I'll have to start making that background (or possibly just finding it somewhere else) and our nifty-to-be banner... yeah... ^_^;; I'm also sick today, so, anything I do today can be considered bad, so don't anyone bother me about it yet.

On a sidenote, we're now finished with the prologue! Leaving me with about 20 comics - or 7 weeks - until I run out of comics. In these seven weeks I'll have to get used to doing three comics a week. >.< I don't see how other people do it... it takes eons. I'll just have to find a quicker way of doing decent comics, huh? ^_^;; Anyway.

Addendum

*random messing with the layout* The stupid divcodes doesn't know what's inside the boxes and what's outside of them... *adds tables* I luv tables. Mmmm.

Under Construction

So, I'm obviously working on the page, as can be seen by the unsightly wreck parts of it now are, and the various links to "coming soon" pages. You might be wondering why-- there are easy ways to do what I'm doing using tables, right? Right. However, I'm trying to get away from using them in this sense, because they're really only supposed to be for content, not layout. So, I'm not going to use them, hopefully, but I also have very little experience with this sort of thing, so please just be patient. Thanks!

Anna Speaks

Whee! I finally realized how to update this stupid thingie through ftp... only Lena knows how to do such things. I'm used to the more easy things that normal free hosts offer, where you just type your stuff into windows on the net.

Anyhow, this site looks awful so far, but, it'll look better in a while, I promise! Pwooomise! I'm working on banners, background, and whatnot. Ok? So, if it looks bad, come back in a while, ok? Ok? Yeah.

The Beginning

Today we finally got an account set up. Updates are set to run up through the beginning of April, so there shouldn't be any missed comics for a while. Now, who are we? I am Zelph, and I came up with some of the most basic parts of Zelon. Specific to this web comic, I'm not only in it, but I also am going to be updating the website. This should leave the lovely Eolill free to update this very page! She is our very talented writer and illustrator. No, you can't steal her.
Zelon is hosted on ComicGenesis, a free webhosting and site automation service for webcomics.
All material on this site is copyright Lena Olson, Minnesota and Anna Östmark, Sweden.
